QUEENS, NY – A migrant from Ecuador, identified as Christian Inga, 25, was arrested for the brutal knifepoint rape of a 13-year-old girl in Queens, New York. Inga, who has a distinctive tattoo of a wild boar on his chest, was caught thanks to vigilant neighbors who recognized him from a surveillance photo released by the NYPD.
According to reports, Inga was spotted near a deli at Waldorn and 108th Streets in Corona, roughly three miles from Kissena Corridor Park in Flushing, where the crime occurred. A group of good Samaritans detained him until police arrived. Inga had been staying at a single-room occupancy dwelling near the deli.
Inga entered the United States through Eagle Pass, Texas, in June 2021, accompanied by a 3-year-old child. Neighbors, including Angela Sauretti, recognized him from the surveillance photos and waited for his return around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. When Inga arrived, the neighbors subdued him, tying his legs with a belt to prevent his escape, and called 911.
The NYPD’s Crime Stoppers tip line had received numerous calls identifying Inga following the release of the surveillance photos and a detailed sketch of the suspect. The sketch highlighted Inga’s wild boar tattoo. After his arrest, Inga was taken to a hospital for observation due to injuries sustained during his apprehension. He now faces multiple charges, including rape, sex abuse, robbery, menacing, kidnapping, and endangering the welfare of a child.
The attack took place around 3:30 p.m. when the victim and her schoolmate, both 13, were playing soccer in the park. Inga allegedly approached them and forced them into a wooded area with a large machete-style knife. Once secluded, he tied their wrists with a shoelace and raped the girl, before robbing them of their cell phones and fleeing.
“This incident is a parent’s nightmare,” NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey said Friday. “All the community should be very upset about this and be willing to come out and help the police department as we try to resolve this issue.”
