MASSAPEQUA, NY – Nassau County Police have charged 27-year-old Jeremy Emmanuel Lopez Ramirez with second-degree murder following the Christmas Eve stabbing death of his mother, Josefina Ramirez Montero, in Massapequa.
Authorities discovered Montero, 57, stabbed multiple times in her living room at an apartment on Old Sunrise Highway. Police report that Lopez Ramirez had been staying with his mother at the time of the incident.
According to investigators, Montero had been baking at home when her son left for a nearby laundromat. Upon his return, he allegedly attacked her for reasons that remain unclear, stabbing her in the head and abdomen. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Lopez Ramirez discarding the knife outside the apartment after the attack.
Lopez Ramirez, who has a history of violent arrests dating back to 2018—including charges for assault, criminal possession of a weapon, attempted murder, and gang assault—was apprehended in Baldwin on Friday. He was arraigned in First District Court and remains in custody as the investigation continues.
