College Point Woman Arrested for Fatal Hit-and-Run in Plainview

Following an investigation, authorities identified Veronica Marmol, 39, of 125th Street, as the driver of the vehicle. She was taken into custody without incident. She was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the First District Court in Hempstead.

PLAINVIEW, NY – A College Point woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 5:55 PM in Plainview.

According to investigators, a 38-year-old man was crossing Old Country Road near Floral Avenue from north to south when he was struck by a 2018 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound. The vehicle did not stop after the collision and continued driving east. The victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police medic.

Following an investigation, authorities identified Veronica Marmol, 39, of 125th Street, as the driver of the vehicle. She was taken into custody without incident.

Marmol is charged with leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death. She was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the First District Court in Hempstead.
