RONKONKOMA, NY – In a shocking turn of events, a Breaking Bad-style drug lab was discovered in Suffolk County, New York. Matthew Leshinsky, a 23-year-old resident of Farmingville, pleaded guilty to charges related to the unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and other illicit drugs at his business, Quantitative Laboratories, LLC, in Ronkonkoma.
District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney expressed his gratitude to the Suffolk County Police Department for their keen observation skills during their initial response to the scene. The officers, who were initially responding to a reported burglary at Leshinsky’s business, uncovered evidence of a clandestine drug lab. This discovery led to a collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies to further investigate Leshinsky and hold him accountable for the dangerous drugs he was producing.
According to the investigation, on June 7, 2023, Leshinsky called 911 to report a burglary in progress at Quantitative Laboratories. When officers arrived, they noticed broken glass at the entrance, sparking their curiosity. As they delved deeper into their investigation, they stumbled upon a clandestine laboratory involved in the manufacture, production, and preparation of methamphetamine, along with other controlled substances such as dimethyltryptamine (DMT), a hallucinogenic substance.
Following the discovery, law enforcement obtained a search warrant for the location. Their search yielded over 100 items of laboratory equipment, chemical reagents, solvents used in the production of methamphetamine, and substances resulting from the manufacturing process. In addition to the drug-related items, police also found $40,000 in cash, a quantity of MDMA (ecstasy), over 3 ounces of methamphetamine, over 625,000 milligrams of pure ketamine, and over 20 plastic 55-gallon drums containing Gamma-butyrolactone (GBL), a chemical similar to the notorious “date rape drug” Gamma hydroxybutyric acid (GHB).
On February 15, 2024, Leshinsky pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including criminal possession of controlled substances, unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, and reckless endangerment. He is scheduled for sentencing on March 20, 2024, and is being represented by attorney David Besso.
Assistant District Attorney Saam Jalayer, from the Narcotics Bureau, is prosecuting the case with assistance from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct, Arson Squad, and Narcotics Section, as well as members of the New York State Police’s Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team.
This shocking case serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against illicit drug production and distribution. The collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies play a crucial role in keeping our communities safe from the harmful effects of these dangerous substances.
