HUNTINGTON, NY – Authorities in Huntington, Long Island, are investigating a gruesome discovery after a body was found stuffed inside a suitcase behind an apartment building. The incident unfolded on Tuesday just before noon when Suffolk County Police responded to a 911 call reporting suspicious activity in a wooded area along Nassau Road, near the border of Huntington Station.

A resident, Chris Smocer’s daughter, noticed a strong odor during a walk and discovered the source was a suitcase. She alerted her mother, who called the police.

When officers arrived, they found the body in the suitcase, with a shoe or foot visible from the luggage. Detectives immediately cordoned off the area as they collected evidence, while the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office was tasked with determining the cause of death. The identity of the victim and details surrounding the death remain unknown, as the investigation continues. Police are urging anyone with information to contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
