Corrections Policy
Long Island Guide is committed to accuracy in our articles, headlines, captions, and other published content. While errors are uncommon, they can occur. When they do, we want to correct them promptly and clearly. We encourage readers, sources, and partners to let us know if they believe something on our site is inaccurate.
This includes:
- Factual errors (see our Fact Checking Policy)
- Misspellings of names
- Incorrect dates, timelines, or locations
Suggested corrections may be reported to our editors by email at [email protected]. You may also use the form below. We review correction requests as quickly as possible and make updates promptly when warranted.
If a correction is minor and fixed on the same day an article is published, a formal editor’s note may not be added. Minor corrections, such as small spelling errors or routine date or location fixes that do not materially change the meaning of a story, may be updated without a separate label.
If a significant error is identified, the story will be corrected as soon as possible, and a correction, update, or editor’s note may be added to the article. Depending on the nature of the change, that note may appear near the top or bottom of the story. If the story was shared on social media, related posts may also be updated, removed, or reposted when appropriate.
The most common attribution for an update or correction will be labeled “UPDATE” or “Editor’s Note”, followed by a brief explanation of what changed or what readers should know. In some cases, “UPDATE” may also appear in the story title when additional context is important for readers.
